The monitoring and control system developed by Bio&Watt Gasification, including a new electronic control unit (ECU) developed ad-hoc, allows to feed the engine with a gas-air mixture optimal for the operation of the CHP module. The system performs a closed-loop control by acting on a series of control valves and allows, in particular, the achievement of the following benefits:
| - |
Emissions control |
| - |
Automated Air-Fuel-Ratio (AFR) adjustment (to instant variations in syngas composition) |
| - |
Maximum engine’s efficiency |
| - |
Strict control of engine’s operating point |
| - |
Longer life of the catalytic converter |
| - |
Reduction in the maintenance of turbocharger and injectors |
| - |
Seamless integration of the engine control unit with the PLC based plant automation system |
